Magnetic Resonance
Our research in magnetic resonance spans a very broad range. We have collaborated with leading groups in the development of novel MRI hardware, such as the world’s first 128-channel cardiac MRI coil. We have a major interest in the development and application of new contrast mechanisms in magnetic resonance such as off-resonance imaging, ultrashort-echo time imaging, chemical exchange saturation transfer and diffusion MRI of the heart. The use of diffusion MRI to characterize the microstructure of the heart is a particular interest. We have played a leading role in the development of techniques to image the diffusion of water in the heart and in the development of novel parameters to characterize the cellular architecture of the heart.
